DJ Angelo McCoy is a Seattle-based filmmaker with a visually evocative and soulful narrative style, rooted in a deep passion for storytelling that began in his childhood. His early experiments with storytelling—from ghost stories around the campfire to creating videos for YouTube—sparked a creative spirit that has propelled his journey as a filmmaker. 

At the age of 12, DJ was accepted into TheFilmSchool’s Prodigy Camp, marking the beginning of his formal filmmaking journey. His early achievements at SIFF FutureWave and the NATAS NW Regional Emmy’s, along with his participation at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth, solidified his presence in the industry from a young age. His academic journey began in Ballard High School’s film program, followed by studies at Shoreline Community College film department, learning 3D animation at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, and culminating in a BFA in Film + Digital Content from Hussian College In Studio at Los Angeles Center Studios. This diverse education, along with over a decade of filmmaking experience, prepared him for his professional career.

DJ’s body of work covers a wide spectrum, from narrative and experimental films to promotional and music videos, while taking on various roles in the production process. His unique voice as a storyteller is enriched by his research into comparative mythology, fairy tales, analytical psychology, and his practice of transcendental meditation, reflecting his quest for truth and willingness to explore the complexities of human experience, cultural themes, moral dilemmas, and mystical realms of the imagination.
